On automorphisms of free groups (Q1118688)

The author studies the automorphisms of free groups of finite rank in connection with a graph defined conveniently. The relevant definitions and the discussion of the conditions occupy much of the paper and cannot be summarized here, so the statement of the main theorem gives just an indication of what is proved: ``A graph satisfying conditions G1-3 of Gersten gives a based graph satisfying \((2')''\). The main references are the authors Ph.D. Thesis [Birmingham, 1986] and \textit{S. M. Gersten}'s paper on Fixed points of Automorphisms of Free groups [Adv. Math. 64, 51- 85 (1987; Zbl 0616.20014)].
