Radially symmetric solutions of the elliptic equation \(\Delta u+f(| x|)u^ p=0\) satisfy the ordinary differential equation \(u''+(n- 1/r)u'+f(r)u^ p=0.\) When \(p=p^*=(n+2)/(n-2)\), the critical Sobolev exponent, (E) is nonoscillatory at the origin if there is a \(\sigma >\emptyset\) such that \(f(r)(\log (1/r))^{\sigma}\) is nondecreasing near the origin. The result is obtained via an analysis of the Emden-Fowler equation \[ w''+t^{-2-1/\gamma} g(t)w^{1+2/\gamma}=\emptyset. \]
