Let C be a connected smooth curve of degree d and genus g in \({\mathbb{P}}^ 3({\mathbb{C}})\). Denote by \({\mathcal J}_ C\) the ideal of C. If (d,g)\(\neq (3,0)\) the critical value v of the pair (d,g) is the smallest integer \(t>1\) such that \(dt+1-g\leq (t+3)(t+2)(t+1)/6\). If \((d,g)=(3,0)\) then v is 1. The index of regularity of C is the smallest integer y such that \(h^ 1({\mathbb{P}}^ 3,{\mathcal J}_ C(t))=0\) for all \(t\geq y\) (assuming that C is not projectively normal). The author shows that for fixed d, g, with \(d\geq g+3\geq 3\), for every n, with \(v\leq n<d-3\), there exists a connected curve \(X\subseteq {\mathbb{P}}^ 3({\mathbb{C}})\) of degree d, genus g, with non-special hyperplane section, and index of regularity n. - The main tool used in the proof of the above result is the so called ``méthode d'Horace'' [\textit{A.Hirschowitz}, Acta Math. 146, 209-230 (1981; Zbl 0475.14027)].
