The authors' aim is to extend the concept of support function in such a way that non-closed bounded convex sets in Euclidean d-space are uniquely determined by their support functions. The idea is to replace the range R by a suitable ordered algebra, a so-called modal. The necessary algebraic prerequisites can be found in the authors' book: Modal theory. An algebraic approach to order, geometry, and convexity (1985; Zbl 0553.08001).
