For two Jordan curves \(J_ 1\) and \(J_ 2\) in the complex plane \({\mathbb{C}}\) we define the Fréchet distance \([J_ 1,J_ 2]\) as inf max\(\{\) \(| z_ 1(t)-z_ 2(t)|\); \(0\leq t\leq 1\}\), where the infimum is taken over all possible parametrizations \(z_ k(t)\) of \(J_ k\) \((k=1,2)\). The author proves the following theorem. Theorem. Let J be a Jordan curve in \({\mathbb{C}}\) and let \(\delta >0\). Then there exists a quasiconformal deformation G of an infinitely generated Fuchsian group of the first kind so that \([\Lambda (G),J]<\delta\).
