The paper is concerned with the investigation of the finite difference- finite element method for the solution of a nonlinear second order two- dimensional parabolic-elliptic initial-boundary value problem. The discretization in time is done by backward differences, in space - by linear functions on triangles. The author uses the so-called ideal finite element and considers the influence of the changes in the domain upon the method's properties. Under some assumptions an existence and uniqueness theorem is proved, and the convergence and the unconditional stability of the method is demonstrated.
