A two-dimensional analysis is made of viscous bubbles in a Hele-Shaw cell. The motion is caused by buoyancy and/or a pressure gradient in a uniform basic flow in the surrounding fluid. An expression is derived for the velocity of a steady bubble in terms of the ratio of the bubble added mass and the displaced mass of fluid.
