This paper is the first one of a series of papers in which an attempt is made to the formulation of a generalized model of immune response. The generalized model involves models based on the X-Y-Z scheme (developed by E. Sercarz and A. H. Coons in 1962 and modified by J. Šterzl in 1967). In this paper only a generalization of the equations for the amount of the free antigen, free antibody and their complexes is done. The generalization is on the base of the models of e.g. the author and \textit{J. Šterzl} [Inform. Theory, Statist. Decision Funct., Random Processes; Transact. 6th Prague Conf. 1971, 275-289 (1973; Zbl 0283.92010)], \textit{P. Klein}, \textit{J. Šterzl} and \textit{J. Doležal} [J. Math. Biol. 13, 67-86 (1981; Zbl 0473.92004)], and \textit{G. I. Marchuk} and \textit{R. V. Petrov} [Mathematical modeling in immunology and medicine, Proc. IFIP TC 7 Working Conf., Moscow 1982, 161-173 (1983; Zbl 0524.92002)].
