    Let f be a holomorphic curve in \(P^ n({\mathbb{C}})\) and let \(H_ j\) (1\(\leq j\leq q)\) be moving hyperplanes of lower order than f in general position in \(P^ n({\mathbb{C}})\). Assume that f has a suitable non-degeneracy. In his paper [Math. Ann. 282, No.2, 185-222 (1988; Zbl 0629.30030)], \textit{W. Stoll} gave a defect relation \[ \sum^{q}_{j=1}\delta (f,H_ j)\leq n(n+1). \] In this paper, under the assumption that there exists a p- dimensional projective subspace \(\pi\) of \(P^ n({\mathbb{C}})\) such that \(\pi \cap H_ j\) (1\(\leq j\leq q)\) are not-moving hyperplanes in general position in \(\pi\), the author gives a defect relation \[ \sum^{q}_{j=1}\delta (f,H_ j)\leq n(n+1)/(p+1), \] which interpolates H. Cartan's defect relation and W. Stoll's one.
