Dilation theory and functional models for contractions prove to be very useful tools in quite a few branches of Mathematical Analysis. In spite of the conceptual difficulties of a similar treatment for systems of operators in Hilbert space, now the structure of Ando dilations for pairs of commuting dilations is better understood [see \textit{Z. Ceauşecu} and \textit{I. Suciu}, ``Isometric dilations of commuting contractions. IV'', in Oper. Theory 17, 55--77 (1986; Zbl 0633.47005) and the references therein], and models for noncommuting systems of operators -- derived from dilation theory -- are developing after the work of A. Frahzo [see for example \textit{G. Popescu}, ``Characteristic functions for infinite sequences of noncommuting operators'', J. Oper. Theory, 22, No. 1, 51--71 (1989; Zbl 0703.47009)]. The present author announces here (without proofs) a very technical model -- coming from the theory of operator nodes -- for a pair of commuting operators. Its significance and usefulness have to be judged after a complete exposition and after treating relevant examples. However, note that the author asserts that both commutativity and the number of the operators in the system are irrelevant for his approach.
