Expanding algebraically degenerate vacuum spaces with homothetic motions (Q1122172)

The authors have investigated some identification of the metrics obtained by \textit{W. D. Halford} and \textit{R. P. Kerr} [J. Math. Phys. 21, 120-128 (1980; Zbl 0452.53027)] and by \textit{W. D. Halford} [ibid. 21, 129-134 (1980; Zbl 0481.53062)]. These metrics are solutions of Einstein's vacuum field equations having algebraically degenerate Weyl tensor and an expanding repeated principal null direction. Some corrections to the first mentioned paper (loc. cit.) are also pointed out. Further an overview of the status of homothetic motions in expanding algebraically degenerate vacuum spacetimes is given.
