Consider the second order nonlinear elliptic equation \[ (1)\quad \sum^{n}_{i,j=1}D_ i(a_{ij}(x)D_ ju)=-\lambda f(u)\quad in\quad Q\subset R_ n,\quad \lambda >0. \] The solvability is considered of the Dirichlet problem of (1) with the boundary condition \(u(x)=\phi (x)\) on \(\partial Q\), where \(\phi (x)\subset L^ 2(\partial Q)\) is non-negative and f is positive and bounded. The main purpose of this note is to study the existence and multiplicity of positive solutions of this Dirichlet problem of (1) in a Sobolev space \(\tilde W^{1,2}(Q)\).
