The author considers the Cauchy problem for \[ (0.1)\quad P(t,x,D_ t,D_ x)u=f(t,x),\quad (t,x)\in [0,T]\times \Omega, \] \[ D^ j_ tu(0,x)=g_ j(x),\quad x\in \Omega,\quad j=0,1,...,m-1, \] T\(>0\), \(\Omega\) an open set of \(R^ n\), for the hyperbolic operator \[ P(t,x,D_ t,D_ x)=D^ m_ t+\sum^{m}_{j=1}a_ j(t,x,D_ x)D_ t^{m-1}, \] where \(a_ j(t,x,D_ x)\) are pseudo-differential operators of order pj, \(p\in [0,1[\), defined on Gevrey spaces of functions or ultradistributions on \(\Omega\) of type \(\sigma\in]1,1/p[\), with symbols \(a_ j\in C([0,T];C^{\infty}(\Omega \times R^ n))\) which are bounded on [0,T] as functions with values in the space of symbols \(S^{pj,\sigma}(\Omega \times R^ n).\) He constructs a parametrix for problem (0.1) by means of a family \(E(t,s),(t,s)\in [0,T]^ 2\) of pseudo-differential operators of infinite order under the assumption on \(P(t,x,D_ t,D_ x)\) with characteristics of constant multiplicity. Moreover by constructing a parametrix for the transposed \({}^ tP\), he proves the uniqueness and obtains a representation formula for the solution and the propagation of singularities of Gevrey class of initial data.
