A family \({\mathcal A}\) of subsets of a space X is finitely closure- preserving (FCP) at \(x\in X\) if, for each \({\mathcal A}'\subset {\mathcal A}\), there exists \(U\in {\mathcal P}(x)\) (the family of neighborhoods of x) and \({\mathcal B}\in [{\mathcal A}']\) (the family of finite subcollections of \({\mathcal A}')\) such that \(\overline{({\mathcal A}')^*}\cap U\subset \overline{{\mathcal B}^*}\) (\({\mathcal B}^*=\cup {\mathcal B})\). \({\mathcal A}\) is FCP if it is FCP at each \(x\in X\). A space with a basis which is \(\sigma\)-FCP is called a strong \(M_ 1\)-space. A space is a strong \(M_ 1\)-space iff it has a quasi-basis which is \(\sigma\)-FCP. The property ``strong \(M_ 1\)-space'' is hereditary, countably productive, and it is preserved by perfect maps. A space is the perfect image of an \(M_ 0\)-space iff it has a fitting base which is \(\sigma\)-FCP. The author asks several pertinent questions.
