Stability is analyzed for a food web consisting of an arbitrary number of competitors for a single substrate and an arbitrary number of predators on all or some of the competitors. Lotka-Volterra dynamics are assumed, except for the substrate uptake responses which are allowed to be of Michaelis-Menten type. Implications of invasion by or elimination of some of the populations are deduced.
