It is well known the important role played by the classes of symmetric functions, symmetrically continuous functions and smooth functions in the study of trigonometric series. Taking into account the importance of these classes of functions in harmonic analysis, in the approximation theory or in the domain of partial differential equations, the author tries to generalize these concepts to that of weighted symmetric functions. He also studies concepts of even symmetry and odd symmetry pointing out some relationships between symmetric functions, symmetrically continuous functions and the functions symmetric with respect to an even or an odd weight system. In the final part the author shows that the functions symmetric with respect to a weight system \(W_ n\) of order n form a linear space and, in addition, the bounded functions symmetric with respect to \(W_ n\) form a Banach space with respect to sup-norm.
