In a previous paper [the author and \textit{T. Mabuchi}, Algebraic geometry, Proc. Symp., Sendai/Jap. 1985, Adv. Stud. Pure Math. 10, 11--40 (1987; Zbl 0641.53065)] the authors proved the following: If \(X\) admits an Einstein metric, then the restriction of the \(K\)-energy map to \(K^+\) admits its minimum exactly on the set of Einstein-Kähler metrics. In particular, the \(K\)-energy map is bounded from below on \(K^+\). The author proves the following refined version of the boundedness theorem. If \(X\) admits an Einstein Kähler metric, then the \(K\)-energy map on \(K\) attains its minimum exactly on the set of Einstein-Kähler metrics, and is in particular bounded from below on \(K\). Moreover the author proves the existence of an almost Einstein-Kähler metric in the following sense. Theorem: If the \(K\)-energy map is bounded from below, then for arbitrary \(\varepsilon >0\), \(X\) admits a Kähler metric \(w\in K\) such that \(| \sigma_w-n| \le \varepsilon\). Under the assumption of boundedness an inequality of the Miyaoka-Yau type is also obtained.
