The existence of closed Weingarten hypersurfaces in \(\mathbb{R}^{n+1}\) has been studied extensively, both for specific curvature functions such as the mean and Gauss curvatures, and also for general classes of curvature functions. Here the author proves the existence of strictly convex Weingarten hypersurfaces in a complete Riemannian manifold of nonpositive sectional curvature under the assumption that there exist suitable barrier hypersurfaces. Although the problem reduces to solving a certain nonlinear elliptic partial differential equation, for technical reasons the result is proved by studying an associated evolution equation and proving convergence to a stationary solution.
