The concept of a Frobenius manifold was introduced by the author in some previous papers as the coordinate-free form of the equations of associativity discovered by the physicists E. Witten, R. Dijkgraaf, E. Verlinde and H. Verlinde in the beginning of 90's, in the context of 2D topological field theories. In this paper, the author shows how the theory of Frobenius manifolds can be applied in other contexts, like the theory of Gromov-Witten invariants associated to the quantum homology of a \(2d\)-dimensional smooth projective variety, the theory of primitive forms on universal unfoldings of quasihomogeneous singularities, or the hamiltonian theory of integrable hierarchies of PDEs of KdV type.
