Let \(L \supset K\) be finite field extensions of \(\mathbb Q_p\), which are generated by adjoining torsion points of some Lubin-Tate formal group defined over \(\mathbb Q_p\). So \(L\) is abelian over \(\mathbb Q_p\) and totally ramified. It is shown in an explicit way that \(\mathfrak O_L\), the ring of integers of \(L\), is free over its associated order with respect to the relative extension \(L/K\). This is a generalization of a result of \textit{M. J. Taylor} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 358, 97-103 (1985; Zbl 0582.12008)], as well as a different approach to part of a result of the reviewer [\textit{G. Lettl}, Acta Arith. 85, 235-248 (1998)]. The corresponding result no longer holds if one considers the same situation with Lubin-Tate formal groups defined over any proper extension field of \(\mathbb Q_p\), as was recently shown by \textit{N. P. Byott} [J. Théor. Nombres Bordx. 9, 201-219 (1997; Zbl 0889.11040)].
