The problem of bounding the degree of a smooth projective variety not of general type was first considered by \textit{G. Ellingsrud} and \textit{C. Peskine}. In Invent. Math 95, No. 1, 1-11 (1989; Zbl 0676.14009) they proved that smooth surfaces in \(\mathbb{P}^4\) not of general type have bounded degree. This result has been extended to any non general type codimension two submanifold of \(\mathbb{P}^{n+2}\) of dimension \(n \geq 2\) [see \textit{R. Braun, G. Ottaviani, M. Schneider} and \textit{F. O. Schreyer}, in: Compl. Anal. Geometry, The Univ. Ser. Math., 311-338 (1993; Zbl 0798.14023)]. In the same spirit \textit{E. Arrondo} and \textit{I. Sols} [``On congruences of lines in the projective space'', Mém. Soc. Math. Fr., Nouv. Sér. 50 (1992; Zbl 0804.14016)] and \textit{M. A. A. de Cataldo} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 349, No. 6, 2359-2370 (1997; Zbl 0874.14045)] proved that a smooth \(n\)-fold not of general type and of codimension two in the smooth \((n+2)\)-dimensional quadric \(Q^{n+2}\) with \(n \geq 2\) and \(n\neq 4\) has bounded degree. In the present paper we drop the assumption \(n\neq 4\) and prove that a smooth 4-dimensional projective variety \(X_4\subset Q_6\) not of general type has bounded degree.
