The authors prove the measure-theoretic analogue to the theorem mentioned in [\textit{H. Furstenberg} and \textit{B. Weiss}, J. Anal. Math. 34, 61--85 (1978; Zbl 0425.54023)]. In the spirit of \textit{H. Furstenberg} [J. Anal. Math. 31, 204--256 (1977; Zbl 0347.28016)] this is used to give a multidimensional extension of Szemerédi' theorem.
