Let \(D\) denote the unit disc in \(\mathbb{C}\) and let \(\Phi: \mathbb{R}_ +\times D\to D\) \(((t,z)\to\Phi_ t(z))\) be a semiflow of analytic functions on \(D\). Moreover let \((h_ t)_{t\geq0}\) be a family of analytic functions on \(D\). Generalizing results of \textit{A. Siskakis} [Linear Algebra Appl. 84, 359-371 (1986; Zbl 0629.47032)] the author considers the family \((T_ t)\) of linear operators given by \((T_ tf)(z)=h_ t(z)f(\Phi_ t(z))\). Among others he gets the following results. (1) Assume that \((T_ t)\) defines a strongly continuous semigroup of bounded linear operators on the Hardy space \(H^ p(D)\) for some \(p\geq1\). Then \(h_ t(z)=\exp(\int^ t_ 0g(\Phi_ s(z))dz)\) for some analytic function \(g\) on \(D\). (2) Conversely if \(g: D\to D\) is analytic and if in addition \(\sup\{\text{Re}(g(z)):\;z\in D\}<\infty\), then for \(h_ t(z)\) given as in (1) the family \((T_ t)\) defines a strongly continuous semigroup on \(H^ p\). Its generator \(A\) as well as the point spectrum of this operator are determined.
