From authors' abstract: It is considered the process which takes place in the photocopy machine as soon as the document to be photocopied is exposed to light. This process is modeled by a coupled system of one elliptic equation for the voltage \(V\) and one parabolic equation for the charge density \(\rho\) with small diffusion \(\varepsilon\). The leading coefficient in the equation for \(V\) has some discontinuities with jump whose size is a nonlinear functional (with memory) of \(\rho\) and \(V\). It is proved that there exists a unique global solution and then it is studied the vector field \(\nabla V\) and the charge density \(\rho\) as \(\varepsilon\to 0\).
