It is typical that a combination of a Lyapunov function and a functional is used to establish boundedness and stability properties of solutions of functional-differential equations. The authors point out that these investigations can be considered as special cases of a general theory of Lyapunov functions on certain product spaces, whose basic lines are established in this paper. They formulate stability results in terms of two measures unifying several known stability concepts such as stability of a prescribed solution, partial stability of the trivial solution, stability of a conditionally invariant set, eventual stability. Using the comparison method, they give theorems on the nonuniform stability and asymptotic stability in terms of two measures.
