For a bounded linear operator \(T\) on a Banach space \(X\) Weyl's theorem is said to hold if the Weyl spectrum of \(T\) (i.e. \(\cap\sigma(T+K)\) where \(K\) ranges over all compact linear operators on \(X\)) equals the set of all points in the spectrum which are not isolated eigenvalues of finite multiplicity. In this paper Weyl's theorem is shown to hold for hyponormal operators on Banach spaces which are uniformly smooth (i.e. \(\sup\{{1\over 2}(\| x+y\|+\| x-y\|)-1\): \(\| x\|=1\), \(\| y\|\leq t\}=o(t)\) for \(t\to 0\)) and uniformly convex.
