    The authors prove a conjecture by C. Foias: If \(M_ 1\) and \(M_ 2\) are invariant subspaces of a bounded linear operator \(T\) in Hilbert space \(H\) with reductions \(T\mid_{M_ 1}\) and \(T\mid_{M_ 2}\) quasisimilar, i.e., there are injective bounded linear operators \(S_ 1: M_ 1\to M_ 2\) and \(S_ 2: M_ 2\to M_ 1\) both with dense range such that \(S_ 1T\mid_{M_ 1}=T\mid_{M_ 2}S_ 1\) and \(S_ 2T\mid_{M_ 2}=T\mid_{M_ 1}S_ 2\) (\(S_ 1\) and \(S_ 2\) are called quasiaffinities), then there is a quasiaffinity \(S\in\{T\}'\) with \(M_ 2=\overline {(SM_ 1)}\) provided that \(T\) is either a finite direct sum of Jordan blocks or an infinite direct sum of a Jordan block and \(T\mid_{M_ i}\) of finite cyclic multiplicity.
