The author considers the \(H^ 1\)-BMO duality for vector-valued functions in the more general setting of spaces of homogeneous type. A space of homogeneous type \(\Omega\) is a topological space endowed with a Borel measure \(m\) defined on the Borel subsets \(\Sigma\) of \(\Omega\) and a quasi-distance \(d\) such that the open balls centered at \(x\) form a basis of the neighbourhoods of the point \(x\) and \(m(B_ r(x))\leq Am(B_{r/2}(x))\), (\(r>0\), \(x\in\Omega\)). Let \(1\leq q<\infty\), and \(X\) a Banach space. Then the space of vector valued measures of bounded mean oscillation \(MBMO_ q(X,\Omega)\) contains the contably additive measures \(G: \Sigma\to X\) such that \[ | G|_{*,q}=\sup\left\{\left(\sum_{i=1}^ n\| G(E_ i)/m(E_ i)-G(B)/m(B)\|^ q m(E_ i)/m(B)\right)^{1/q}\right\}<\infty, \] where the supremum is taken over all balls \(B\) and over all finite measurable partitions \(\{E_ i:\;i=1,\dots,n\}\) of \(B\), with \(m(E_ i)>0\). The main result of the paper reads: for \(1<p,q<\infty\), \(1/p+1/q=1\), \[ (H^ 1_ p(\Omega,X))^*=MBMO_ q(\Omega,X^*). \]
