In [J. Algebra 15, 417--428 (1970; Zbl 0216.04703)], \textit{J. Ax} showed that if \((k,v)\) is a Henselian rank one valued field which is perfect and of characteristic \(p>0\) and \(\alpha\) is an element of an algebraic closure \(\bar k\) of \(k\), then there exists \(a\in k\) such that \(\bar v(\alpha- a)\geq\bigtriangleup(\alpha)\), where \[ \bigtriangleup(\alpha) = \min\{\bar v(\alpha'-\alpha)\mid\alpha'\text{ runs over the \(k\)-conjugates of \(\alpha;\) and \(\bar v\) is an extension of \(v\) to \(\bar k\)}\}. \] His proof has a small error and in the present paper, the author has given a simple counter example to show that the result of Ax is false.
