The paper refers to the following mixed problem for the hyperbolic equation (1) \[ \partial^ 2u/\partial t^ 2-\partial^ 2u/\partial x^ 2-\partial^ 2u/\partial y^ 2=f(t,x,y),\quad u(0,x,y)=u_ 0(x,y),\quad (\partial u/\partial t)(0,x,y)=u_ 1(x,y), \] \[ (\partial u/\partial x+b\partial u/\partial y-c\partial u/\partial t)_{x=0}=g(t,y), \quad (\partial u/\partial y)_{y=0}=h(t,x),\quad (t,x,y)\in(0,T)\times(\mathbb{R}^ 1_ +)^ 2. \] In (1) \(b,c\) are complex constants which satisfy the condition (2) \(| 1+c|-| 1- c|>2| b|\). An energy inequality for the solution of (1) and an estimation for the boundary value of \(u\) are given by the author. The technique of the proof is based on the transformation of the mixed problem to a first order symmetric hyperbolic system which has a positive boundary condition and a non-negative boundary condition on the boundary \(x=0\) and \(y=0\), respectively. The author extends the result of \textit{K. Asano} [Sci. Rep. Niigata Univ., Ser. A 17, 33-38 (1980; Zbl 0435.35048)] to inhomogeneous boundary conditions and complex constant \(b,c\).
