The aim of this paper is to extend the well-known fundamental theorem of Serre concerning the Spencer cohomology groups [see the Appendix of \textit{V. W. Guillemin} and \textit{S. Sternberg}, Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 70, 16--47 (1964; Zbl 0121.38801)] to the generalized Spencer cohomology groups introduced by \textit{N. Tanaka} [Hokkaido Math. J. 8, 23--84 (1979; Zbl 0409.17013)].
