Consider the quantized universal enveloping algebra \(U_ q\) corresponding to the complex Lie algebra \(\text{sl}_{n+1}\). For \(q\) a root of unity, the authors write down some explicit finite dimensional representations of \(U_ q\). This goes via an intermediate Weyl algebra. They are able to verify that these representations are generically irreducible (using the recent results of \textit{C. De Concini} and \textit{V. G. Kac} [Prog. Math. 92, 471-506 (1990; Zbl 0738.17008)].
