The author studies the strong law of large numbers of the type \[ \lim_{m\wedge n\to\infty}(nm)^{-1/p}\sum^ n_{i=1}\sum^ m_{j=1}f(X_ i,Y_ j,Z_{ij})=0\qquad \hbox{a.s.}, \] where \(\{X_ i\}\), \(\{Y_ i\}\), \(\{Z_{ij}\}\) are independent families of i.i.d. r.v.s uniformly distributed on \([0,1]\), \(0<p<2\). An application to degenerate \(U\)-statistics of degree two is given.
