Let the finite group \(S\) act on the finite group \(G\). Suppose \((| S|,| G|)=1\). Suppose \(H\leq G\) and \(H^ \alpha=H\) for each \(\alpha \in S\). Let \(\chi\) be an \(S\)-invariant irreducible character of \(G\) and let \(\vartheta\) be an \(S\)-invariant irreducible character of \(H\). The main results of this paper are: If \(\vartheta^ G=\chi\), then \((\vartheta^*)^ C=\chi^*\); if \(\chi_ h=\vartheta\), then \(\chi^*_{H\cap C}=\vartheta^*\). [Notation: \(C\) = centralizer of \(S\) in \(G\); \(\chi^*\) is the well- defined irreducible character of \(C\), corresponding to \(\chi\); \(\vartheta^*\) is the well-defined irreducible character of \(H\cap C\), corresponding to \(\vartheta\)]. A pretty corollary to the above results is: Suppose \(X\) is a finite group all of whose irreducible characters are monomial [i.e. \(X\) is an \(M\)-group]. Let \(H\) be a Hall-subgroup of \(X\). Then \(N_ X(H)| H\) is an \(M\)-group.
