The generalized Lotka-Volterra model of \textit{H. Farkas} and \textit{Z. Noszticzius} [J. Chem. Soc. Faraday Trans. 2, 81, 1487-1505 (1985)] contains three chemical reactions, namely, autocatalytic production of the intermediate \(X\), autocatalytic transformation of \(X\) into \(Y\), and decay of the intermediate \(Y\). This paper deals with the following scheme \[ {@>>X>} X, X{@>>Y>} Y, Y\to \] with the kinetic equations \[ \dot x=k_ 1x^{\hat p}-k_ 2x^ py^ q,\;\dot y=k_ 3x^ py^ q-k_ 1y^{\hat q}, \] where \(x\) and \(y\) are the concentrations of intermediates, and \(k_ i\) \((i=1,2,3,4)\) are the rate constants. Assuming \(r=\hat p q+p\hat q-\hat q\hat q\neq 0\) and by a scaling transformation, the authors transform the above system into \[ \dot x=x^{\hat p}-x^ py^ q,\;\dot y=c(x^ py^ q-y^{\hat q}), c>0.\leqno(*) \] They considered \(p,q\) and \(c\) as fixed values. Their aim is to get information about the region \(\{0\leq \hat p <p, 0\leq \hat q <q\}\). Within the framework of local analysis, they studied Hopf and Zip bifurcations of \((*)\) and found some explicit first integrals which helped them to reveal the gobal qualitative character for several special cases.
