Starting from the Euler-Maclaurin summation formula with interval \(h\), derivative terms at the end points are replaced by forward and backward difference expansions based on (fractional) multiples \(\beta\), of the interval \(h\). Truncations then produce quadrature formulas which reduce to classical forms for \(\beta=1\). Errors are obtained for values of \(\beta\) that give Peano kernels of constant sign. A similar development using the mid-point rather than the trapezoidal rule is also made.
