This is a continuation of the paper by \textit{C. Năstăsescu}, \textit{S. Raianu} and \textit{F. Van Oystaeyen} [Math. Z. 203, 605--627 (1990; Zbl 0721.16025)]. For a unitary ring \(R\) graded by a group \(G\), the category of left \(R\)-modules graded by a left \(G\)-set \(A\) is studied. The generalized smash product \(R\# A\) is introduced. The main results of the paper are concerned with the case where \(A=G/H\) -- the set of left cosets of a subgroup \(H\) of \(G\) subject to \(G\)-translation. The authors define a functor from the category \((G/H,R)\)-\(gr\) of \(R\)-modules graded by \(G/H\) to the category of \(R\{H\}\)-modules, where \(R\{H\}\) denotes the extension of the smash product \(R\# G\) introduced by \textit{D. Quinn} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 292, 154--167 (1985; Zbl 0584.16001)]. A right adjoint is then constructed for the above functor, and these two functors are shown to define an equivalence between \((G/H,R)\)-\(gr\) and a certain localizing subcategory of the category \(R\{H\}\)-mod. A series of applications is given. In particular, if \(H\) is a finite subgroup of \(G\), the authors discuss essential extensions in \((G/H,R)\)-\(gr\) and objects of this category that are of one of the following types: noetherian, artinian, with Krull dimension or simple.
