The differential expression \(\lambda=-d^ 2/dt^ 2+q(t)\) \((t\in(0,\infty))\) is considered. The potential \(q\) is assumed to have a singularity near the origin such that (1,1) is the deficiency index of the minimal in \(L_ 2(0,\infty)\) operator \(L_ 0\). A description of all selfadjoint extensions of \(L_ 0\) by means of spaces of boundary values is constructed. The class of potentials includes both \(q\) which satisfy the conditions of the WKB method and potentials the main singularities of which are as follows: \(at^{-\alpha}+bt^{-\alpha+1}\), where \(1\leq\alpha\leq2\), \(a<3/4\), \(b\in\mathbb{R}\). The operators which are generated by \(-\Delta+q(| x|)\), \(x\in\mathbb{R}^ n\backslash\{0\}\) are investigated too.
