The concept of a \(T\)-fraction [cf. \textit{O. Perron}, Die Lehre von den Kettenbrüchen or \textit{W. B. Jones} and \textit{W. J. Thron}, Continued fractions: Analytic theory and applications (1984; Zbl 0603.30009)] is extended to the setting of simultaneous approximation. Where the ordinary \(T\)-fraction gives rise to a so called two-point Padé table (correspondence to two functions given by power series: one around the origin and the other around the point at infinity), the extension to a \(T\)-\(n\)-fraction gives correspondence to an \(n\)-tuple of pairs of formal power series: one member of each pair being a series around the origin and the other around infinity. The rational approximant \(n\)-tuples have common denominator which can be interpreted as a 'reversed' orthogonal polynomial (with respect to an \(n\)-tuple of doubly infinite moment sequences). Conditions are given under which the \(n\)-tuple of pairs of fps gives rise to a unique \(n\)-tuple of rational approximants (Hankel-type determinants on the moment sequences) and a convergence theorem is proved. The paper only contains the theoretical framework and does not yet give examples and/or treat the numerical behaviour of the underlying \((n+2)\)- term recurrence relation.
