    The system is given by \[ \dot x=Ax+\sum^ m_{j=1} b_ j\varphi_ j(\sigma_ j),\quad \sigma_ j=(c_ j,x),\quad\varphi_ j(0)=0,\quad j=1,2,\dots,m,\tag{1} \] where \(A\) is a constant \(n\times n\)-matrix, \(b_ j\), \(c_ j\in R^ n\). The nonlinear functions \(\varphi_ j\) guarantee the existence of solutions of (1) and satisfy \(\sigma_ j\cdot\varphi_ j(\sigma_ j)\geq 0\). The authors derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a symmetric matrix \(L\) and a vector \(\theta\in R^ m\) such that \(V(x)=x' Lx+\sum^ m_{j=1}\theta_ j\cdot\int^{\sigma_ j}_ 0 \varphi_ j(\sigma)d\sigma\) is a Lyapunov function for the 0-solution of (1).
