In the paper of the first author in Beitr. Algebra Geom. 29, 121-129 (1989; Zbl 0704.51011), various concepts of discreteness have been introduced for transformation groups acting in metric spaces. Only one of them is the classical concept (1) \(\forall_{P,X,r>0}\hbox{ card}(U_ r(X)\cap P^ G)<\infty\) (Hilbert-Cohn-Vossen), where \(U_ r(X):=\{Y: \rho(X,Y)<r\}\) is the open ball of radius \(r\) and centre \(X\) in a metric space \(M\), and \(P^ G:=\{Y:\exists_{\alpha\in G}\quad Y=P^ \alpha\}\) denotes the orbit of a point \(P\) under a transformation group \(G\) acting on \(M\). In this paper the real equiaffine plane geometry is discussed with \(U_ r(X):=\{Y\in R^ 2: | (\vec{XY})^ 2| < r^ 2\}\) as a disc, defined by a quadratic form \((x,y)^ 2\mapsto\) a) \(x^ 2+y^ 2\), b) \(x^ 2-y^ 2\), c) \(x^ 2-y\), d) \(x^ 2\), respectively. The authors show that the usual conditions, equivalent in the above paper, are non- equivalent in these equiaffine situations, in general.
