It is known that a Riemannian manifold can be stochastically complete (or conservative) with respect to Brownian motion without being metrically complete and vice versa. This paper is concerned with the stability of stochastic completeness. The author constructs a pair of quasi- isometrically equivalent metrically complete Riemannian metrics \(g\), \(\tilde g\) on a manifold \(N\) so that \((N,g)\) is stochastically complete while \((N,\tilde g)\) is not. As a corollary one obtains an example of a complete manifold with no nonconstant bounded solutions to Laplace's equation but with nonconstant bounded solutions to the heat equation.
