\textit{D. Ludwig, D. D. Jones} and \textit{C. S. Holling} [J. Anim. Ecol. 47, 315-332 (1978)]\ modelled a spatially uniform budworm population. \textit{D. Ludwig, D. G. Aronson} and \textit{H. F. Weinberger} [see J. Math. Biol. 8, 217-258 (1979; Zbl 0412.92020)]\ considered a nonuniform model in an infinite strip. This paper will study the budworm population in a circular region. Since the corresponding differential equation possesses no longer the first integral in this case, the analysis is much more difficult. We discuss the linear problem, logistic model and the model with the interaction between the budworm and its predator.
