The inverse of the special real \(n\times n\)-matrix \(A+vB\) is investigated, where \(A\) is symmetric and positive definite, \(B\) is skew- symmetric, and \(v\) is a real parameter. An expression for the inverse \(Z(v)=(A+vB)^{-1}\) is derived as a sum of powers of the matrix \(H=A^{-1}B\), namely, \(Z(v)=[\sum^{m^*}_{k=0}g_ k(v)H^ k]A^{-1}\), where \(g_ k(v)\) are rational functions of \(v\) with \(g_{2k}(v)\geq 0\) and \(g_{2k+1}(v)=-vg_{2k}(v)\); the numerical coefficients \(g_ k(v)\) are those of the polynomial \(f(v)\). Furthermore, the upper bounds for \(Z(v)\) and the limit of \(Z(v)\) as \(| v|\rightarrow\infty\) are obtained.
