The boundary integral equation method admits the effective numerical solution of boundary value problems for homogeneous linear differential equations by solving equations for the Cauchy data on the boundary. An integral over the interior of the domain appears in the corresponding equation for the inhomogeneous problem and the advantage of the method is lost. The authors develop a method for the computation of particular solutions by the use of suitable radial basis functions. Due to the sparsity of the matrices which occur in the numerical scheme, this method is very effective. The remaining homogeneous solution is computed by the usual boundary integral equation method. Numerical examples for the Poisson equation, the inhomogeneous biharmonic equation and the Lamé-Navier system are presented.
