    A non-flat Riemannian manifold \((M^ n,g)\) (\(n\geq 2\)) is said to be pseudo-symmetric (in the sense of M. C. Chaki) if its curvature tensor \(R\) satisfies the condition \[ \begin{multlined}(\nabla R)(X_ 1,X_ 2,X_ 3,X_ 4;X)=\\2\cdot A(X)R(X_ 1,X_ 2,X_ 3,X_ 4)+\allowbreak A(X_ 1)R(X,X_ 2,X_ 3,X_ 4)+\dots +A(X_ 4)R(X_ 1,X_ 2,X_ 3,X)\end{multlined} \] where \(A\) is a non-zero 1-form. Similarly, a non-flat Riemannian manifold \((M^ n,g)\) (\(n\geq 3\)) whose Ricci tensor satisfies the condition \[ (\nabla S)(X_ 1,X_ 2;X)=2\cdot A(X)S(X_ 1,X_ 2)+A(X_ 1)S(X,X_ 2)+A(X_ 2)S(X_ 1,X) \] is called pseudo-Ricci- symmetric. In this paper the author shows that a pseudo-symmetric Riemannian manifold cannot be a Sasakian manifold. The same statement is true for a pseudo-Ricci-symmetric manifold.
