    Let \(M\) be a compact Riemannian spin manifold of even dimension \(d\) and denote by \(\psi\) a spinor field with values in a vector bundle \(E\). Denote by \(\tau\) the endomorphism \(i^{d/2}e_ 1\dots e_ d\) of the spinor bundle. The authors define the vacuum expectation of the quantity \(Y(x)=\text{div }J^ 4(x)-2im \langle \psi(x), \tau\psi(x)\rangle\) by a lattice regularized functional integral. The vector field \(J^ \psi\) is given by \(J^ \psi=\sum^ d_{i=1}\langle\psi,\tau e_ i\psi\rangle e_ i\) and \(\psi\) belongs to the kernel of the Dirac operator. Finally the authors announce a formula for the limit in case \(t\to 0\) and the triangulation \(\mathring M\to M\): \[ \lim_{t\to 0}\lim_{\mathring M\to M}\langle Y_{\mathring M}(x)\rangle_{t, \mathring M}=2(2\pi i)^{- d/2}(\hat a(M)ch(E))_{d/2}(x). \]
