The paper gives a sharp bound for the number of zeroes of the elliptic integrals \(I_{\omega}(h)\) given by the integral of a symmetric (with respect to the origin) polynomial form \(\omega =A(x,y)dx+B(x,y)dy\) along the ovals of the Hamiltonian \(H(x,y)=y^ 2-2x^ 2+x^ 4\), in terms of the degree \(n\) of the symmetric polynomials \(A\) and \(B\). The results are the following: the space \(V_ n\) of elliptic integrals is a Chebychev system if we restrict to elliptic integrals along the ``small'' ovals (i.e. surrounding a unique singular point), while it is a Chebychev space of accuracy one if we restrict to elliptic integrals along the ``large'' ovals (i.e. surrounding three singular points). Putting all ovals together the integrals can have up to \(3[(n-1)/2]\) zeroes. These results make use of the number of limit cycles that can bifurcate from a double homoclinic loop through a unique saddle point in a symmetric system.
