The main result in this paper is: If \(\ell\) and \(m\) are partitions of the (natural) number \(n\) and \(L(\ell,p)\) and \(L(m,p)\) are the lattices of subgroups of the finite Abelian \(p\)-groups of type \(\ell\) and \(m\) respectively, then a necessary condition for the existence of an order preserving injection from \(L(m,p)\) into \(L(\ell,p)\) is that \(m\) dominates \(\ell\). However this condition is not sufficient. The proof of this result is far from elementary and involves the theory of Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions and some background on topology of partially ordered sets (Betti numbers also known as rank selected Möbius invariant of lattices play an important role). The paper ends with some open problems.
