[Part I, cf. Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 12, 1385-1398 (1988; Zbl 0702.35139).] The authors study the existence and asymptotic behaviour of bounded nonnegative solutions of the following initial value-boundary value problem for a nonlinear parabolic equation: \[ u_ t- \text{div}(|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u)=h(x,u)\text{ in } \Omega\times\mathbb{R}_ +, u(x,t)=0\text{ in } \partial\Omega\times\mathbb{R}_ +,\;u(x,0)=u_ 0(x)\text{ in }\Omega. \tag{P} \] \(\Omega\subseteq\mathbb{R}^ N\) is a regular open set, \(\Omega\) may be unbounded; \(1<p<2\). Supersolutions of (P) are constructed and using them it is proved that for \(t_ n\to+\infty\) the solution of (P) converges to some solution of the elliptic equation associated with (P). The technique is based upon a comparison principle and the investigation of suitable regularized equations the formal derivation of which is justified. The regularisation and stabilisation results pertain to the case \(2N/(N+2)<p<2\).
